Dane Arakaki lists “Grease 2” as one of his favorite movies. That should tell you everything you need to know about him. If it doesn’t, then know that Dane grew up as a military brat and lived in California, Georgia, Texas, and two separate stints in Japan. Those formative years would later shape his imagination as a screenwriter and middle grade author of fantasy/adventure.
Currently residing in San Antonio, Texas, Dane likes to spend time with family, his laptop, and handfuls of cacahuates japones. He has had 10 independent feature films and a TV series produced, starring the likes of Amy Smart, C. Thomas Howell, and Lance Henriksen. Dane lists Terry Pratchett, Agatha Christie, Silvia Moreno-Garcia, and Grady Hendrix as favorite authors.
Fun facts: When he was 19 years old, Dane participated in an open tryout for the Oakland Athletics (he didn’t make the cut) and has never struck a match in his life.
